Volunteer FAQ

What will I get?

Volunteering is a rewarding experience, allowing you to:

  • Gain a sense of achievement: Helping an animal in need can give you a sense of pride and achievement.
  • Enhance your skills: Doing varied tasks with a variety of volunteers can help you to enhance a number of skills including confidence, communication and team work.
  • Strengthen your CV: Volunteering can be an invaluable addition to your CV. Employers can see you have gone the extra mile to help learn new skills.
  • Increase your network: You will meet and interact with some fantastic like-minded individuals, so you’ll definitely make some new friends along the way!

Who can Volunteer?

You can become a Woodlands Warrior no matter what age you are! However if you are under the age of 15 we ask that you are chaperoned at all times by a parent or guardian. Unfortunately, if you are under 16 you will not be able to participate in street collections and bag packs.

Please note we are situated in Holmeswood, Lancashire so applications anywhere other than the Lancashire area will not be contacted.

How do I volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer then simply click here to fill in your details and someone from Woodlands will get back to you, or alternately please call us.

How much time do I have to give?

Our Woodland Warriors are very much appreciated! If you want to help out with animal care at the shelter it is always ideal if you can make it on a regular basis, this helps to build up your knowledge of the sanctuary and the care that you give. Most of our volunteers come from 9am until noon. Cat cuddling can be on a much more ad hoc basis; we just ask that you let us know when you are coming.

Fundraising volunteers can give anything from one hour to a whole day.

Regardless of however much time you can spare your efforts will make a difference.
