abandoned and would have
died if they had not been rescued.

to us after escaping from their former
owner and eating a neigbour's garden.
Beryl, one of our many chickens. She and her 9 companions were handed in as their elderly owner could no longer look after them. Albert the Chinese goose and his best friend Quakers came to us
earlier this year
They are devoted to one another.
Left-These chickens were dumped in freezing snow when the first bird flu scare started. Their wings were frozen to their bodies and had to be thawed with a hairdryer. Their rescuers missed one in the dark which was dead next day.
Right- A healthy happy chicken now.
The irony is they have been battery birds so whoever cruelly dumped them had rescued them initially.
Edna and Griselda (right) were both rescued by Swan rescue in 2006 after being attacked by loose dogs in Botanic gardens. They are domestic geese that had been abandoned. We were delighted to offer them a forever home here.Daffy (near left) was handreared after thugs through his siblings off a motorway bridge and his companions both have "angel wings" so cannot survive in wild. .
Gerty left, a pygmy goat was gifted to the Sanctuary after spending 4 years in a back garden in Liverpool.
Although she was much loved she had lost her socialising skills and found it difficult to mix with the herd. However now Buddy and Issac (right) have joined us she will continue to feel more and more comfortable as her confidence grows.
