Appeal
As we continue to take
care of more and more needy animals at the sanctuary the work
load is becoming increasingly difficult to cope with,we rely on
the public to help us in anyway they can. Because of this we would
be very grateful if anyone would be able to help us in any of
the ways below:
Volunteers - As
we have approximately 200 animals on the premises (and still lots
more on our waiting list) so we rely on volunteers for cleaning,
feeding and giving our animals the attention they deserve. Some
people only like doing certain animals which is not a problem
as we need as much help as we can get.
Neutering Scheme -
We need a volunteer to coordinate our neutering scheme. This will
involve recording and contacting adopters, who have not forwarded
their kittens neutering certificates to us.
Administration -
We need volunteers to update information on a regular basis and
keep our accounts and records up to date.
Vet Runs - Our
animals need regular check ups and so vet runs are a constant
part of our work. If you have your own car and could spare some
time each week, we would be very grateful if you could help.
Got a car and a spare couple
of hours a week -
Regular collection of greens, bread
and corn supplies for all the animals.
Reception Duties -
This position involves answering telephone calls, showing perspective
new owners around the sanctuary and answering any questions. We
are particularly busy at the weekends.
The ways above involve
volunteering at the sanctuary, but if you prefer maybe you could
get involved with some of the options below.
Fundraising -
We are constantly struggling to keep up with the amount of funding
needed to run the sanctuary as we get no help from the government.
We would be very grateful for any help organizing fundraising
events, no matter how small, every little helps.
Maybe you are interested in holding a coffee morning or cheese
and wine evening in aid of the Sanctuary? Or would you like to
take part in a sponsored walk, swim, run etc.? Perhaps you might
like to do a sponsored skydive or other challenge!. If you have
children of school age, perhaps their class would like to raise
money for the Sanctuary by doing, for example, a sponsored book-read
or sponsored silence.
Home Visits- All
possable adopters who want to give one of our animals a home,
must agree to have a home visit.
This is to ensure that the facilities available are suitable for
the intended new arrival So we require more volunteers who can
spare a few hours a week to offer advise and information where
required. Full training will be given.
Memorial Garden -
If you wish to remember your beloved cat or any other animal,
then for a donation you could have a plaque placed in our memorial
garden.

Sponsor a Pen -
Sponsoring a pen is £120 a year, this will look after many
cats and help us to rehabilitate them into the life they deserve.
The details you request, will be on view for everyone to see on
the pen that you sponsor.
Food appeal -
If you have any unwanted, high quality tinned cat food , then
please think of donating it to us to help us feed our cats. We
are always in need of Mixed corn for our large collection of chickens,
ducks and geese all of which have been rescued and parrot/budgie/finch
food for our aviary birds.
We also need a large supply of vegetables for our resident sheep,
goats, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
Car Boot/ Attic Sales
- Car boot sales are a brilliant way to make money and we
would be very grateful if you could do one in aid of the sanctuary.
We can help you with bric-a-brac and books etc.
Collection boxes - Do you have, or know someone, with a
busy shop or a busy office? We need to site several counter- top
collection boxes to help us raise funds.
By remembering us
in your will - To support us in this way, ask your Solicitor
or Bank Manager how to include us. The following format is suggested:-
" I bequeath unto the 'Woodlands
Animal Sanctuary' (Reg Charity No 1108626) of Woodlands Farm,
Sandy Lane, Holmeswood, Lancashire, L40 1UE, the sum of £
(free
of duty) and declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other
authorized officer for the time being of the Charity shall be
a good and sufficient discharge of such legacy."
If you have already made out your will, you can still benefit
the Sanctuary by the addition of a short codicil
