All About Adoption

Adopting a small animal from Woodlands Animal Sanctuary

Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs etc are wonderful creatures, aren't they?
Its so easy to be tempted to adopt a cute cat, kitten or rabbit on impulse,
then find out the hard way that sharing means something of a change in lifestyle.
You are responsible for the health of another creature, for making sure that it
gets regular vaccinations, that it is wormed several
times a year and treated for fleas.
If its a kitten, its up to you to make sure that it is neutered at six months old.
You have to remember always to have cat food in stock, and then there's the worry
of vets bills in the event of sudden illness or accidents.
At holiday time, have you got friends willing to take care of the cat, or can you
afford the extra cost of boarding your cat on top of the cost of your holiday?
If it's a rabbit it also needs vaccinations spaying/neutering and a large hutch and run.

Keeping a pet costs money and time, and we are looking for kind, responsible people
who understand this, and are willing to take into their lives a small animal that may already
have lost one or more homes. When adopting an animal from us, you should be prepared
to make a donation,to tell us about the home you want to take the animal to and
to allow a volunteer to visit you at your home to make sure that all is well
(a follow-up visit may also be required). In turn we will try to ensure your new friend
is healthy and where possible suitable for your needs and
be here for you with advise whenever you need it.

We are also always looking for good homes for feral cats and kittens.
Good homes for these cats/kittens are on farms or at stables, where they can be working cats,
having a warm bed in a barn or stable, food provided every day and in return they look
after barn and stable related problems 'MICE'...Can you help or do you know of a
farm/stables near you that would be interested.
